Legal Advocate Program

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Legal Advocates program!

This is a no-cost program that provides support from trained non-lawyers (legal advocates) who can assist you with a range of services. Unique benefits of this program include cultural sensitivity, language support, and a trauma-informed approach tailored to the South Asian community that promises accessibility and confidentiality.

There is no fee associated with receiving help from our legal advocates.

What is a Legal Advocate?

At SALCBC, our legal advocates are trained professionals who can assist individuals (particularly those who may have limited access to legal resources or understanding) in navigating legal and/or social systems. Although they are not lawyers and cannot provide formal legal advice or represent you in court, they are able to assist you with understanding legal information and finding resources applicable to your matter and situation.

Their role expands to include compassionate support for individuals dealing with gender-based violence, guidance through complexities of various applications, and clarification on any confusing government correspondence.

For more details on the range of services that our legal advocates provide, please see the information below.

If you have a question about a service that is not listed on this page, we encourage you to complete our intake form and specify your matter.

We are committed to standing by your side and assisting you every step of the way, ensuring that you have the emotional and informational support required to navigate these important processes.
